Christmas catch-up part 3

After lunch out, we all went home, gave the kiddos naps and then opened gifts. With this group, it's pretty much organized chaos.

Jack loves his little cousin Marshall. Because, remember, Jack's "a big boy," and Marshall is a "wittle baby."

We want the boys to experience the joy of giving and be a part of the gift-buying, so each year we take the boys to the dollar store to pick out gifts for family and friends. We only veto the choices if there's a danger to the recipient (ie- choking hazard in getting baby Marshall a bag of marbles). Pop's gift was the lovely and stylish pair of giant blue glasses. It's a step up. Last year he got a whoopie cushion. Loni got Tinkerbell pom-poms, Heidi got princess mirrors, and Scott got a basketball night light. It's fun for them to shop, pay, and wrap the gifts for others.

Uncle Scott and Heidi got Sam and Jack super cool helmets that light up with working microphones and other gadgety things. Scott, Dad, Tom, and I thought Sam's was broken, We just couldn't get the sounds to work. Well, leave it to the 4 year old to let us know we were doing it wrong. We were baffled and had exchanged the batteries for a third time when Sam had it figured out. Maybe we have an electrical engineer on our hands? The adults felt a little foolish- outwitted by the four year old.

Ummmm, Tom, sweetie, I think it's a little too small. Please give the toy back to Jack.
