Row row row your boat

Last weekend, Tom took the boys out on the lake for a bit of canoeing.

And then into the water! Both boys are doing really well swimming. I am just too scared to let them swim without floatation devices in water where I can't see the bottom. It's a huge fear for me. I guess I'll have to work on this, or they will be 12 and 13 wearing water wings any time they swim in a lake or ocean.

Just floatin'.

Out of the Mouths of Babes

So after a slightly, ummmm, let's just say "challenging" morning of errands with the boys, we were on our way to go swimming and get out some extra "little boy" energy. As we were driving, Sam said, "Mommy, you've given me a lot of grace today." What I was thinking: Dang right I've given you a lot of grace! And not just today, my little friend- that grace has been pouring from about May 2006! What I actually said: Yes, Sam. And God gives me lots of grace- more than I deserve every day too. I sort of love/ hate when a teachable moment for a child becomes a 'kaboom' on my own lack of humility and extreme shortcomings. However, I am grateful that Christ uses my kiddos, their thoughts and actions and my responses and reactions to bring me to my knees in gratitude for the amazing grace He has and continues to pour over me.
