Tennesse- Part 3

Sunday morning we left Pigeon Forge and headed to Gatlinburg. Not for the cheesy souvenir shops. Not for the lovely, mountain view. Not for Ripley's Believe It Or Not museums. Our demands were much simpler and much tastier- The Pancake Pantry. Don't be confused. There are many pancake houses along the way, but The Pantry has waitresses in old fashioned German garb, a line that stretches down the block, a cup of coffee that gets even Tom's hard earned seal of approval, and truly the biggest, fluffiest, most delicious pancakes you've ever had! Who doesn't love a plate full of steaming breakfast comfort food? I should have taken a picture. After our tummies were full with orange- walnut pancakes we let the kiddos run around some cute little courtyards. These was an old fashioned candy store where they have the big machine that pulls the taffy. All the kids had one piece (becuase clearly they are malnourished and hadn't eaten enough for breakfast). Sam and Jack inhaled theirs within seconds, but dainty flower Morgan took her sweet time. I think in the bottom picture our boys are trying to figure out if she got an extra one or how on earth she had stretched out her taffy experience 10 minutes later. We had a fabulous time with our friends Matt and Erin and Morgan! Hopefully it becomes a tradition- Dollywood, Pancake Pantry, and all!

You know my husband and his family spent copious amounts of time in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge... I'll have to ask him about the Pancake Pantry. Sounds right up their alley!
